Creating a Spring Workout Plan
The warm weather of spring is finally here (in most places) and the long winter is over! Now’s the time to focus on spring and summer and, for many people, this means creating a spring workout plan. Spring is a time for renewal and looking forward. In addition to planning some spring cleaning, why not plan a spring workout as well?
Exercising in the Spring
The spring is a great time to really get into your workout. One of the main reasons why is because the weather is nicer, but we haven’t yet reached the sweltering summer heat. This makes it the perfect time to exercise outside. Working out outside has a number of benefits.
You’ll be able to take in some fresh air and sunlight, you’ll have a more enjoyable workout due to the scenery, and you’ll elevate your mood since you won’t be stuck inside all day. In fact, some studies have shown that those who exercise outside are able to exercise for longer periods of time and are more likely to keep up a workout plan.
The Importance of a Plan
Having a plan is key. Not only does it help you organize your workouts and track your progress, but it also can also help motivate you. Exercising without a plan and a schedule gives you too many possible excuses (“I worked out a lot already this week”, “I’ve done enough today”, etc.) However, when you have a plan and a schedule, you’ll be more motivated to keep going.
Do Exercises you Like
When it comes to creating an exercise routine, try and do exercises that you enjoy. After all, if you hate your workout, you’re much more likely to quit. If you don’t like running, for example, try something else. Go for a bike ride or a swim instead! Including exercises that you find enjoyable will make you much more likely to stick to your plan.
Consider Working Out with Someone
There are so many benefits to working out with another person. One obvious one is companionship. It’s just simply more fun to have someone to talk to and share your workout with. This alone can make it more likely that you’ll stick to your exercise routine.
Another key benefit is motivation. You’ll be more likely to get up, get going and push yourself further when you have someone else to hold you accountable. This is a big reason why personal trainers are so popular.
