Motivating yourself to Keep Going

Feeling tired, down, or otherwise just don’t feel like getting up and exercising? It happens to all of us. The good news is that there are things that you can do to motivate  yourself and keep yourself going. Here are a few motivational tips that will keep you exercising.

Exercise with Someone

Working out with someone is a great way to keep yourself motivated. Exercising with another person means that you’ll have someone by your side to inspire you and keep you going. This is a big reason why a lot of people like to exercise with friends or personal trainers. Not only is the motivation a big part of it, but it’s often more fun to exercise when you’re with someone else as opposed to exercising on your own.

Don’t be Too Hard on Yourself

Sometimes you’ll miss a workout. Sometimes you’ll stop exercising before you complete your routine. Sometimes you’re tired. This happens to everyone. The important thing is that you aren’t too hard on yourself for these occasional issues. Some people skip a workout one day and they then believe that, since they’ve already missed one workout this week, they’ve screwed up badly and it doesn’t matter what they do now. They then feel discouraged and don’t bother exercising the next day either. Or the next day. Don’t let this happen to you. If you miss a workout, put it behind you and dedicate yourself to looking to the future.

Do Something Small

If you don’t feel like doing your whole workout today, try to just do part of it. Sometimes, the hardest part is getting up and starting. Once you’ve started, you might find it easier to keep going. Even if that doesn’t work, and you only do a small amount of exercise, that’s still better than nothing.

Have Fun

The best exercises are the ones that you enjoy. Everyone is different and everyone will have different workouts that they either like or dislike. Your workout doesn’t need to be the same as anyone else’s. Find something that you enjoy and you’ll be much more likely to want to do it. Some people enjoy running, but if you don’t you can bicycle, swim, hike, or play a sport instead.
